Flights Wine Bar

As relaxing as your own living room

Nestled up in a corner above the roundabout where Shevlin Park Road becomes Newport Avenue in the River West neighborhood of Bend sits the friendly Flights Wine Bar. Ever since Kelsey Daniels opened the doors in November of 2021, people have been coming here to explore new wines in a comfortable and cozy setting. You can lean back in lounge seating, sit along the banquette, settle up to the bar or enjoy the patio surrounded by trees. Whatever you choose, you’re likely to feel as relaxed as you would in your own living room, and ready to check out some new vino.

Flights is a place with abundant opportunities to do everything from delighting in your wine without thinking too hard to learning as much as you can about what’s in your glass.

Living up to its name, the wines by the glass at Flights are organized into themed flights, which change every week.

Exploring these is a great way to entertain your palate while enhancing your own experience. You’ll find everything from trusty classics like Chinon Cab Franc or Austrian Gruner to off-the-beaten-path juice, like Willamette Valley Trousseau and Slovenian rosé. Each flight comes with Sarah’s own tasting notes, which are designed to give you as much or as little as you want, offering just the quick facts, and also the “nerdy stuff.”

Wine selections center around Italy, Spain, France, other countries in Europe, California and the Pacific Northwest, with a particular focus on family owned and sustainable producers.

Flights also offers happy hour from 3—5pm every day, as well happy hour all day on Wine Wednesday.

If you have a special occasion to celebrate or a gift to buy, you need to know about “try before you buy.” This concept allows you to investigate the list of high-end wines, and try any available for Coravin* pours before you invest in the entire bottle! Select a half glass of whatever you’re interested in. If you decide to purchase a bottle of the wine you tasted, you don’t pay for the taste!

There is also no shortage of wine tasting events, making traversing your own wine adventure even easier. For example, you could dive deep into the wines or the Van Duzer Corridor appellation of the Willamette Valley, tour wine and food pairings of the Loire Valley or learn all about how your glassware affects your wine. Click on the black banner at the top of the landing page of the website for a full list of events, and to sign up.

And don’t forget to follow Flights on Instagram so you don’t miss any of the cool stuff coming up!

And if all that isn’t enough, you will also find a full food menu, designed around the wines offered. Choose from cheese and charcuterie boards, appetizers, shareable entrées and desserts—and don’t miss Fried Chicken Thursdays!
